π Clootie Dumpling
A traditional Scottish spiced pudding steamed in cloth
π Ingredients:
- 250g plain flour
- 100g suet or butter
- 100g brown sugar
- 1 tsp mixed spice
- Β½ tsp cinnamon
- Β½ tsp baking soda
- 150g dried fruit (raisins, currants)
- 1 egg
- 150ml milk
- 1 tbsp golden syrup
π³ Method:
- Mix dry ingredients, then stir in fruit.
- Add egg, milk, and syrup to form a thick batter.
- Wrap in floured cloth (βclootβ), tie securely.
- Simmer in boiling water for 3 hours.
- Unwrap, dry in oven for 10 minutes, and serve sliced.
