🍳 Method
- Make the Espresso Soak Brew espresso and stir in sugar. Let it cool completely. Add coffee liqueur if using.
- Prepare the Mascarpone Cream In a mixing bowl, whip heavy cream, mascarpone, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and fluffy.
- Dip the Ladyfingers Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso mixture—just a second or two to avoid sogginess.
- Assemble the Trifle In a trifle dish or individual glasses, layer soaked ladyfingers, then mascarpone cream. Repeat until full.
- Finish and Chill Dust the top with cocoa powder. Chill for at least 4 hours (or overnight) to let flavors meld.
- Garnish and Serve Top with dark chocolate shavings and serve chilled.
