
🧀 Susan’s Macaroni and Cheese
🍳 Method
- Cook the Macaroni
- Boil macaroni until just tender. Drain and set aside.
- Make the Cheese Sauce
- In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté onion until soft.
- Stir in flour, salt, mustard, and pepper to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in milk and cook until thickened.
- Add half the grated cheese and stir until melted.
- Combine and Layer
- Mix cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce.
- Pour into a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
- Add the Crumb Topping
- Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter.
- Spread evenly over the macaroni.
- Bake Until Golden
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
