For the meatballs:
- 500g ground beef or lamb
- 1 small onion, finely grated
- 3 tbsp chopped parsley
- 3 tbsp chopped cilantro
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Optional: ¼ tsp turmeric or cinnamon for extra depth
For the tomato sauce:
- 4 ripe tomatoes, peeled and chopped (or grated)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chili pepper or cayenne for heat
- Optional: 2–3 eggs for poaching
- Fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish
