
Collard Greens with Ham Hocks
🍲 Instructions
- Simmer the ham hocks In a large pot, add ham hocks and water or broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour to release flavor and tenderize the meat.
- Add aromatics Stir in onion, garlic, red pepper flakes, vinegar, and sugar. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add collard greens Add chopped greens in batches, stirring until wilted. Simmer uncovered for 45–60 minutes until greens are tender and flavorful.
- Finish and serve Remove ham hocks, shred the meat, and return it to the pot. Season with salt and pepper. Serve hot with pot liquor (the flavorful broth).
