Slice the tomatoes into ½-inch thick rounds.

Season with salt and pepper.

Prepare three bowls:

Bowl 1: Flour

Bowl 2: Beaten eggs mixed with buttermilk

Bowl 3: Cornmeal or breadcrumbs

Dip each tomato slice:

First in flour

Then in egg mixture

Finally in cornmeal/breadcrumbs

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.

Fry the tomatoes until golden brown on both sides (about 2–3 minutes per side).

Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
