1 lb (450g) raw shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 cup buttermilk (or regular milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup cornmeal (or breadcrumbs)

1 tsp paprika

½ tsp garlic powder

½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Marinate shrimp in buttermilk for 15–30 minutes.

In a bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
