🍳 Instructions
- Caramelize the onions Heat butter and oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and cook slowly for 15–20 minutes, stirring often, until golden and soft.
- Make the roux Sprinkle flour over the onions and stir well. Cook for 2–3 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.
- Add broth and seasonings Gradually pour in broth while stirring. Add Worcestershire sauce, pepper, and salt. Simmer for 5–10 minutes until thickened.
- Finish and serve Taste and adjust seasoning. Add balsamic vinegar or sugar if desired. Serve hot over your favorite dish.
