Ingredients:
– 1 can whole tomatoes (28-ounce)
– 2 tbsp olive oil
– ¼ cup grated or finely minced onions
– ½ to ¾ tsp dried oregano
– 1 tsp dried basil
– ¼ to ½ tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to liking)
– 3 garlic cloves, minced
– 2 tsp sugar
– 1 tsp salt
Steps:
1. Break tomatoes into chunks in a bowl.
2. Heat olive oil and sauté onions, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes for 3-4 minutes. Add garlic and cook briefly.
3. Add tomatoes, sugar, and salt. Simmer for 30 minutes, adjusting flavors as needed.
4. Use sauce on pizza, add toppings, and bake.
5. Store in the fridge for 1 week or freeze for 3 months.
Note: For a more concentrated tomato flavor, you can simmer the sauce for longer.
