- Season the Beef Rub the chuck roast with salt, pepper, paprika, and cumin. This step builds the flavor right from the start.
- Layer the Slow Cooker Place sliced onions and garlic at the bottom. Lay the seasoned beef on top.
- Add Liquids Pour in beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar.
- Cook Low and Slow Cover and cook on low for 8–10 hours (or in a Dutch oven at 300°F/150°C for 4–5 hours) until the beef is fork-tender.
- Shred the Beef Remove the beef, shred it with two forks, and return it to the cooker to soak up all those juices.
- Toast the Buns (Optional but Recommended) Toast sandwich buns for a bit of crunch and to prevent sogginess.
- Assemble and Serve Pile the pulled beef onto buns, add your favorite toppings, and enjoy!
